Gangwon’s winter wonderland extravaganza, the 33rd Taebaeksan Snow Festival, has wrapped up in a flurry of success.

The city of Taebaek and the Taebaek Cultural Foundation announced on the 10th that this frosty fiesta took place from January 31 to February 8 at Taebaeksan National Park. The foundation, which orchestrated the event, aimed to create an immersive experience where visitors could dive into activities and extend their stay.

As part of their icy innovations, they unveiled a jaw-dropping snow sculpture exhibition that blended Taebaek’s unique charm with K-Culture vibes. To amp up the excitement, they kept the frosty fun going until 10 PM, drawing in night owls and adventure seekers. The Igloo Cafeteria was another crowd-pleaser, offering a cozy spot to sip on warm drinks in a surreal snow-and-ice setting.

Families weren’t left out in the cold, either. The foundation rolled out a winter wonderland of activities, including a massive snow sledding area, an indoor kids’ playground, and a mini Winter Olympics. They even threw in some toasty treats with chestnut roasting and rice cake making experiences. It was a frosty free-for-all that catered to every age group!

A foundation spokesperson gushed, “We really upped our game this year, perfecting our signature snow sculptures and igloos while adding more family-friendly experiences. Our goal was to create a winter getaway that would make people want to stick around. And we’re not stopping here – we’re always on the lookout for new ways to showcase Taebaek’s unique climate and natural beauty in our winter tourism offerings.”
