Jeongheung County’s Seafood Origin Check: Are Your Favorite Dishes Safe This Holiday?

As the Lunar New Year approaches, Jangheung County is stepping up its game to ensure seafood safety with a special origin labeling inspection.

The Marine and Fisheries Department will be on the lookout from February 10th to 13th, scrutinizing local seafood vendors and market stalls for proper origin labeling.

This inspection is zeroing in on holiday favorites like mackerel, octopus, pollock, oysters, and seaweed – all hot commodities for festive meals and gifts. But don’t worry, merchants! It’s less about cracking down and more about spreading the word. The goal? To get everyone on board with origin labeling laws voluntarily.

If any slip-ups are spotted, like missing or fudged labels, the county’s ready to lay down the law. But for minor hiccups? They’ll offer on-the-spot guidance to get things shipshape.

A county spokesperson dished, “We’re pulling out all the stops to make sure everyone – locals and visitors alike – can shop for seafood with total peace of mind this Lunar New Year.
