The Seocheon County Council in South Chungcheong Province wrapped up its 338th special session on February 10th, concluding nine days of proceedings that began on the 2nd.

This special session featured thorough deliberations on council member-proposed ordinances and executive-submitted agenda items. The main assembly approved two ordinances without amendments: the “Ordinance on the Inheritance, Development, and Support of Traditional Culture at Confucian Schools and Academies in Seocheon County,” proposed by Councilmember Lee Kang-seon and three others, and the “Ordinance to Support and Promote Nighttime Tourism in Seocheon County,” put forward by Councilmember Han Kyung-seok and three others.

The council also passed several items submitted by the Seocheon County Mayor without changes. These included: △ The first periodic management plan for public property in 2024, △ A partial amendment to the ordinance on public transportation support for seniors in Seocheon County, △ A partial amendment to the ordinance on hope taxi operations and resident support in areas without rural bus service, △ A partial amendment to the ordinance on urban regeneration promotion and support in Seocheon County, and △ An ordinance on the management and operation of workation facilities in Janghang and Aurum Janghang.
However, the “Ordinance on the Operation and Support of the Bio-Specialized Knowledge Industry Center in Seocheon County” was approved with modifications after some content revisions.

Prior to the main assembly, Councilmember Hong Seong-hee delivered a five-minute speech on “Reviewing the Progress and Recommendations for the Seocheon Polytechnic University Construction Project,” offering insights on the project’s development and future direction.

Furthermore, from February 4th to 9th during the special session, the Seocheon County Council received major business reports for 2024 from the executive branch and conducted a Q&A session to examine the county’s governance plans for the current year.
