How Gyeonggi’s Community Welfare Council Plans to Transform Lives by 2026

The Gapyeong County Community Welfare Council has launched a comprehensive review of local welfare policy achievements and begun implementing future strategies.

On February 9, the council convened the ‘2026 First Regular Meeting of the Representative Council’ at the Gapyeong County Office’s Second Building. Seventeen members gathered to discuss the trajectory of local welfare development.

The meeting focused on sharing the 2025 annual project outcomes aligned with the 5th Community Welfare Plan (2023-2026). Participants also conducted an in-depth review of strategies to promote exemplary local government initiatives.

The council evaluated last year’s project results and reached a consensus on incorporating feedback from the field to enhance this year’s programs.

Gapyeong County has been pursuing a comprehensive welfare policy under the vision “Gapyeong: A Place of Healing and Happiness through Exceptional Welfare.” This vision is supported by nine key strategies, ten priority projects, and 45 detailed initiatives.

The council, through public-private partnerships, oversees the entire process from planning to implementation and evaluation, significantly contributing to the improvement of local welfare standards.

The representative council is scheduled to hold additional meetings in April and May to monitor, adjust, and review the ‘2026 Annual Implementation Plan.’

County Mayor Seo Tae-won, who serves as the public chairperson, stated, “The council’s efforts are tangibly improving the quality of life for our residents.” He added, “We are committed to developing highly effective welfare policies through continued engagement and collaboration.”
