On February 10, just before the Lunar New Year holiday, Gwangju City Council Chairman Heo Kyung-haeng unveiled his key legislative priorities, focusing on boosting the local economy and supporting vulnerable communities.

The city council reported that Chairman Heo participated in a shopping event at Gyeongan Market and delivered care packages to local disability welfare facilities.

This initiative was designed to gather firsthand insights from small business owners and welfare facilities grappling with the economic downturn, with the aim of incorporating their feedback into future policy decisions.

At the traditional market, Chairman Heo engaged with merchants, listening to their concerns. He contributed to the local economy by purchasing regional produce using Onnuri gift certificates. Later, he visited disability welfare facilities to assess their operations, identify areas for improvement, and offer encouragement to the staff.

Heo Kyung-haeng remarked, “Holidays provide an opportunity to reconnect with our neighbors and community.” He added, “The city council will prioritize economic recovery and address welfare gaps, consistently implementing policies that offer concrete support to citizens in need.”

Moving forward, the Gwangju City Council plans to enhance its on-the-ground legislative activities to revitalize traditional markets and support vulnerable groups. The council will focus its policy efforts on fostering a community built on sharing and solidarity.
