The NPS management and labor union have agreed to discuss measures to reduce actual working hours.

On the 10th, the NPS held a ‘Joint Declaration Ceremony for Reducing Actual Working Hours’ with the NPS branch of the Public Transportation Workers’ Union.

This declaration underscores the shared understanding between the NPS and its labor union that reducing actual working hours is a critical step towards enhancing the sustainability of the National Pension System. Both parties have publicly committed to collaborating on this initiative.

In line with the recent ‘Roadmap for Reducing Actual Working Hours’ announced by the Ministry of Labor, the NPS and the union have pledged to work towards creating a workplace that promotes efficient work and fair compensation, improving inefficient practices such as unnecessary overtime and excessive meetings, innovating work methods to boost productivity, and ensuring adequate rest periods for employees.

Oh Jong-hun emphasized, “Reducing actual working hours is crucial for achieving work-life balance and improving quality of life. We must work together to make this change tangible in the workplace.”

NPS Chairman Kim Sung-joo stated, “Through AI-driven transformation, we aim to shift from quantitative labor to fostering a culture of efficient work. Our goal is to create a happy workplace where rest and safety are guaranteed.”
