Boeun County in North Chungcheong Province just scored a major win: on March 12, its Okboyeong Regional DMO was selected for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s regional Destination Management Organization (DMO) support program.
The Okboyeong Regional DMO brings together Boeun, Okcheon and Yeongdong counties and the Chungbuk Cultural Foundation to build regional tourism governance centered on local attractions.
With this initiative, the county plans to boost its tourism competitiveness, encourage longer stays, and attract more residents through a variety of projects.
“We expect this will lay the groundwork for sustainable regional tourism,” a county official said.
