Stray Kids Makes History: 4 Wins at Japan’s Gold Disc Awards – What This Means for K-Pop

[Sports Today reporter Song Oh-jung] Stray Kids swept four awards at the 40th Japan Gold Disc Awards, becoming the most-decorated international act in the ceremony’s history.
On March 11, the Japan Gold Disc Awards announced on its official website that Stray Kids had been named Best Asian Artist. Their Japanese EP Hollow won Album of the Year in the Asia category and was also listed among the Best 3 Albums. Additionally, the live Blu-ray of their 2024 fan event, Stray Kids Fan Connecting 2024 “SKZ TOY WORLD,” took home Music Video of the Year (Asia).
The wins underscore the group’s consistent quality across records and visual content and reaffirm their standing as a global top-tier act. The Japan Gold Disc Awards, organized by the Recording Industry Association of Japan, celebrated its 40th edition this year. Winners were selected based on sales of records and videos from January 1 through December 31, 2025.
Internationally, Stray Kids carried strong momentum into 2025: they scored an eighth consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard 200, a run that rewritten parts of Billboard history. On the IFPI’s 2025 annual global charts, their fourth studio album KARMA climbed to No. 2 on the Global Album Sales Chart—the highest placement for a K-pop artist—and the group was the only K-pop act to reach the top 10 on both the Global Artist Chart and the Global Album Chart. Riding that wave, their four-win performance at the Japan Gold Disc Awards keeps the spotlight on the group’s worldwide traction.
Stray Kids will hold their sixth official fanmeeting, Stray Kids 6TH FANMEETING ‘STAY in Our Little House,’ on March 28–29 and April 4–5 at Incheon Inspire Arena. In June and September, they are slated to headline New York’s Governors Ball and Brazil’s Rock in Rio, respectively, further engaging international audiences.
