[Sports Today reporter Im Si-ryeong] Kim Soo-hyun, who is locked in an ongoing legal fight with cosmetics company A, has again denied allegations that he was involved with a minor.
On the morning of the 13th at the Seoul Central District Court, the second hearing was held in a suit brought by cosmetics company A seeking roughly 2.8 billion KRW (approximately $2,100,000) in damages against actor Kim Soo-hyun and his agency Gold Medalist.
The court limited its session to procedural matters and set the next hearing for April 24.
In March of last year, Kim faced accusations that he had dated the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. In the wake of those allegations, Company A terminated its endorsement deal with him and filed a damage claim.
At the first hearing on Nov. 21, Company A argued that Kim breached a contractual \”duty to uphold dignity\” and increased its claim from 500 million KRW (approximately $375,000) to 2.86 billion KRW (approximately $2,145,000). Kim’s camp has flatly denied that the relationship began while Kim Sae-ron was a minor, calling the claim entirely false and questioning how a relationship between adults would violate such a duty.
At the second hearing, Kim’s attorney told Xports News that unverified reports cannot justify terminating a contract and described the suit as unfair. They insisted the allegation that he dated a minor is only a rumor.
Meanwhile, YouTube channel GaroSero Research Institute and Kim Sae-ron’s bereaved family have claimed the late actress dated Kim Soo-hyun for about six years starting when she was a minor. Kim’s side disputes that timeline, saying the two were involved for about one year as adults, and the legal battle is ongoing.
