[Sports Today reporter Kim Taehyung] Park Yongin of the group Urban Zakapa, who received a suspended prison sentence on charges of false advertising, will appear in court again.

According to Star News on the 16th, the Seoul Eastern District Court’s 3rd Criminal Division (Appeals) will hold the first appellate hearing in Park’s case over alleged violations of the Food Labeling and Advertising Act on April 29.

Virtue Company, which Park leads, is a licensing planning firm that planned and promoted a beer called BEURRE — commonly referred to as \”butter beer.\” Authorities allege Virtue Company and others advertised the product as \”butter beer\” and \”butter base\” from May 2022 through January of the following year, even though butter was not used among the ingredients.

In February last year, the Seoul Eastern District Court’s Criminal Division No. 12 sentenced Park to eight months in prison, suspended for two years, and fined Virtue Company 10,000,000 KRW (about $7,500). The prosecution appealed the first-instance ruling, moving the case to the second trial.

Regarding the matter, Park said, \”We described the beer as having a smooth, butter-like flavor.\” He explained that the wording was intended to emphasize the product’s character, similar to how tasting notes for alcoholic beverages or coffee evoke floral, fruity, chocolatey, nutty, or woody flavors even when those specific ingredients are not actually present.
