Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province announced on the 17th that it will host a \”Korea’s Top 100 Tourist Sites\” exploration event across the Gwangyang Plum Blossom Festival grounds to promote Gwangyang Maehwa Village, which was named to the 2025–2026 Korea’s Top 100 list.

The event runs at 10 locations along the festival’s main route, including the shuttle bus stop, the main venue, and the Gwangyang Maehwa Cultural Center.

Each spot features a Maedoli character sign with a QR code; visitors can scan it to see instantly whether they’ve won.

You can take part at multiple locations, but duplicate entries from the same spot aren’t allowed. Winners can pick up their souvenirs at the Korea’s Top 100 promotion booth in the main venue.

Framed by the Seomjin River and the slopes of Baegunsan Mountain, Gwangyang Maehwa Village is the country’s largest plum blossom grove. Every March, the area is carpeted with plum blooms, creating a truly breathtaking scene.

The village is also famous for renowned horticulturist Hong Ssang-ri’s Cheongmaesil Farm and a landscape dotted with roughly 2,000 traditional jangdokdae (earthenware jar platforms).

In 2019, the Microsoft portal MSN named the village one of \”Asia’s 23 Most Beautiful Spring Scenes,\” and travel platform Agoda included it among six top domestic and international spring-flower destinations, raising its profile as a must-see spring spot.

\”Gwangyang Maehwa Village was selected for the Korea’s Top 100 list because of its distinctive natural scenery,\” a Gwangyang City official said. \”We hope visitors will stroll the festival grounds, participate in the event, and experience the village’s unique charm.\”
