[Sports Today reporter Kim Tae-hyung] Global band hrtz.wav is set to make its first official appearance with an unconventional debut showcase.
On the 18th, Kakao Entertainment announced that hrtz.wav will stage a fan showcase to mark the release of their first mini-album, The First Wave, on their debut night — April 8 at 8 p.m. — at the Cultural Depot performance venue in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
The band picked the Cultural Depot, a landmark venue known for its wide-ranging performances and cultural programming, signaling an unusually ambitious debut for a rookie group.
Pre-orders for the mini-album The First Wave opened at 11 a.m. the same day through multiple online retailers, drawing strong interest from fans around the world.
hrtz.wav plans to center the showcase on live performance, the core strength of the band. Each member is already recognized for exceptional skill in their respective role, and the group intends to demonstrate its musical chops immediately with a tightly executed live set.
Through bold staging and a concept-driven presentation that defies typical rookie staging, the band aims to establish itself as one that “moves differently from the start.” Attendance at the showcase will be determined by a lottery open to those who pre-order The First Wave.
For its debut, hrtz.wav is offering multiple packages to meet global demand: a hrtz version, a wav version, and a slogan-version merchandise package. Each set includes a sleeve, photobook, stickers, a Polaroid, photocards, and a CD, designed to showcase both the record’s musical quality and the five members’ varied charms.
The concept photos released ahead of the album have already generated buzz. Individual close-ups highlight intense stares and distinctive styling, while group shots convey the cohesive atmosphere that defines a band.
Fans awaiting the official debut have praised the group’s more mature visuals and refreshed vibe, describing the look as visually explosive and noting a clear shift in tone.
The First Wave arrives roughly four months after hrtz.wav was formed on Mnet’s global band-making survival program Still Heart Club. Keyboardist Yoon Young-jun, vocalist Rian, bassist Dane, guitarist Kayten and drummer Hagiwa secured a rapid debut after demonstrating steady musical growth and strong teamwork.
The First Wave, a new wave reflecting youth, will be released on April 8 at 6 p.m. both online and in stores.
