[Sports Seoul | Reporter Jo Seon-woo] Air Premia announced on the 26th that it has signed an interline agreement with Thai Airways and will begin joint air-transport services linking the two carriers’ routes starting on the 30th.

Thai Airways, based at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, is Thailand’s largest carrier. It operates nine domestic routes and 53 international routes across Asia, Europe and Oceania, and it’s a founding member of Star Alliance, the world’s biggest airline network.

Under the agreement, the two carriers will offer joint ticketing and through-checked baggage. That means travelers can book one itinerary and move smoothly between both airlines’ networks without juggling separate reservations.

The partnership gives Air Premia a chance to capture more transfer traffic from Southeast Asia and India headed to the U.S. via Incheon. At the same time, Thai Airways can lean on Air Premia’s U.S. routes—Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and more—to expand its presence in the American market.

Passengers flying Thai Airways to Phuket and Chiang Mai, or on regional routes to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta and Hanoi, as well as Indian routes to New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, will now be able to connect to Air Premia’s U.S. services.

An Air Premia spokesperson said, “We expect this interline agreement with Star Alliance member Thai Airways to increase transfer demand from Southeast Asia and India to the Americas. We will continue to expand customers’ travel options through partnerships with other carriers.” blessoo@sportsseoul.com
