From a place to relax to an island that gets you moving. The Guam Visitors Bureau took center stage at SPOEX, South Korea’s biggest sports and leisure expo at COEX in Seoul from the 26th to the 29th, promoting Guam as an active travel playground.

They showcased Guam’s outdoor highlights with clear, stylish categories — Run & Ride for running and cycling, Dive for scuba and snorkeling, Golf for course lovers, and Adventure for trekking and ocean sports. Since expos now favor hands-on experiences over passive viewing, the bureau focused on in-person engagement, too. Guam’s sports ambassador, Kang So-yeon, was on-site, chatting directly with visitors and turning curiosity into buzz.

The booth also promoted April’s signature events. Guam’s flagship Ko’ko’ Road Race and the Tour of Guam cycling race are both scheduled that month, and the bureau aimed to convert expo interest into actual sign-ups.

About a four-hour flight from South Korea with minimal jet lag, Guam is increasingly being rediscovered as an easy, short-trip destination for active getaways. Its year-round mild climate means running, cycling, diving, and golf are all on the menu no matter the season.

Park Ji-hoon, head of the Guam Visitors Bureau’s Korea office, said, “Interest in ‘active wellness’ travel — moving your body to restore energy — is rising fast. We’ll keep promoting Guam as a ‘wellness island,’ where travel itself becomes a lifestyle experience.”
