[Herald Economy (Yeongdeok) = Reporter Kim Byung-jin] Jo Ju-hong, a candidate for Yeongdeok County executive, opened his campaign office on April 4 on Central Street in Yeongdeok-eup, formally launching his campaign.

About 1,000 supporters attended the opening, joined by prominent local figures who offered congratulatory remarks.

The event drew attention with a visual presentation titled “Yeongdeok’s Future Blueprint and Local Pledge Performance,” which illustrated campaign promises for each town and township.

Pledges from the various areas were linked together on stage, and the performance culminated when Jo appeared holding a large placard outlining the “Yeongdeok County Future Blueprint.”

Jo said he will create a “climate-energy special zone” in Yeongdeok by integrating nuclear and renewable energy, establish the Yeongdeok Energy Development Corporation, and return solar and wind revenues to residents through a “citizen pension” program.

He added that he plans to develop a future-oriented industrial park that combines smart hydrogen production with elder-care services to create jobs and strengthen welfare at the same time.

As part of his regional development strategy, Jo highlighted key infrastructure projects: linking the Yeongdeok–Uiseong rail line to the new airport; constructing the Yeongdeok–Samcheok north–south 10-axis highway; repairing national roads and fishing ports; and expanding marine and eco-tourism infrastructure — all aimed at building a comprehensive connectivity and infrastructure network.

In closing, Jo said, “Politics should not be noise that wears residents down; it should deliver results that change lives. I will start by addressing people’s livelihoods and be a county executive who brings resources to Yeongdeok.”
