Audemars Piguet has unveiled Caliber 7138, a next-generation self-winding perpetual calendar movement created to mark the Swiss maison’s 150th anniversary. Designed around an innovative “all‑in‑one” crown, it lets wearers control every function from a single interface, boosting ease of use and setting a fresh benchmark for perpetual calendar watches.

AP rethought how a traditional perpetual calendar should be adjusted, favoring an intuitive, ergonomic solution. Where tiny case-side adjusters and special tools were once required, the Caliber 7138 lets users make every correction with the crown alone. The result is a more accessible, tool‑free experience that fits smoothly into modern, flexible lifestyles.

The movement debuts in a 41mm Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet in 18‑carat white gold and in two 41mm Royal Oak models—one in stainless steel and one in 18‑carat sand gold. Caliber 7138 will also power a 150th‑anniversary limited edition, with each model limited to 150 pieces.

Born from five years of R&D and supported by five patents, the movement centers on a sophisticated four‑position crown system. That single crown sequentially handles winding, date and day adjustments, month and leap‑year settings, time setting, and moon‑phase corrections. These refinements enhance the user experience while keeping legibility and aesthetics front and center.

The refreshed dial layout improves readability. The day indicator sits at 9 o’clock, the date at 12 o’clock, and the month at 3 o’clock, while week numbers are printed on the inner bezel for clarity. Notably, the week display marks the first day as “1.” The moon‑phase sits harmoniously at 6 o’clock and features a finely detailed design inspired by NASA moon photography.

Water resistance has been upgraded across the new models. Where earlier perpetual calendars offered 20m of protection, Royal Oak versions now provide 50m and the Code 11.59 variant delivers 30m—enhancing durability without compromising the refined design.

The 150th‑anniversary limited editions keep AP’s signature aesthetic while adding celebratory details. The moon‑phase subdial at 6 o’clock includes a vintage‑style “Audemars Piguet” signature drawn from historical company documents, and the sapphire caseback frame is engraved with a “150” logo and “1 of 150 pieces.”

Caliber 7138 preserves the perpetual calendar’s mechanical sophistication while prioritizing intuitive, user‑friendly operation. Audemars Piguet continues to blend its heritage with forward‑looking innovation, opening a new chapter in contemporary watchmaking.
