[iNews24 Reporter Lee Yoon] The Gyeonggi Provincial chapter of the Democratic Party announced the first-round primary results to select candidates for the 9th nationwide local elections.
The party held the two-day primary on the 8th and 9th, conducted under Article 47 of Party Rule No. 10, which governs candidate recommendation and the evaluation of elected officials.
The primary produced the following nominees: Ansan mayoral race — Kim Cheol-min, Kim Cheol-jin, Park Chan-gwang and Cheon Young-mi; Pyeongtaek mayoral race — Gong Jae-gwang, Seo Hyun-ok and Choi Won-yong; Gimpo mayoral race — Oh Kang-hyun, Lee Ki-hyung, Jung Ha-young and Cho Seung-hyun; Goyang special mayoral race — Myeong Jae-seong, Min Kyung-sun, Lee Young-a and Jang Jae-hwan; Uijeongbu mayoral race — Kim Won-gi, Ahn Byung-yong and Jung Jin-ho.
If no candidate secured a majority, the top two vote-getters advance to a runoff.
Objections to the primary results may be filed with the party’s Central Committee for Candidate Recommendation Reexamination within 48 hours of the announcement.
