‘Magazine B’ will retain editorial independence…to preserve its identity
MUSINSA announced on April 20 that it has acquired Be-Media Company, the publisher of the brand-documentary title ‘Magazine B.’
MUSINSA said the companies agreed to preserve and develop the distinctive brand heritage that Magazine B has established, and MUSINSA has purchased all outstanding shares.
The deal brings together two Korea-born companies that have each pursued global markets in their own ways. MUSINSA said it plans to leverage Magazine B’s international media capabilities to pursue new collaborations across multiple sectors.
Launched in 2011, Magazine B is a brand-documentary title that treats brands as culture, exploring them through reporting and long-form storytelling.
With a distinct editorial point of view and a refined visual language, Magazine B examines brands across industries — from fashion and lifestyle to tech, spaces and urban life. Its approach earned a Silver Lion at the 2013 Cannes Lions Festival and has cultivated a dedicated global readership among brands and creative communities.
Through this acquisition, MUSINSA gains core media capabilities needed for global expansion.
Magazine B’s overseas media network and influence, along with its editorial and creative expertise, are expected to add new growth opportunities to MUSINSA’s international ambitions.
Both companies also intend to develop Magazine B beyond a traditional media outlet into a global brand, pursuing new areas such as intellectual property and licensing.
Magazine B will maintain its editorial direction and media independence after the acquisition, the companies said.
MUSINSA said founder Jo Su-yong will support Magazine B’s push to become a global brand. Existing staff, led by CEO Kim Myung-soo and Park Eun-seong, will continue to run the title, drawing on the know-how and editorial philosophy they have built.
