Partner to distribute, produce and program for next-generation channel ‘K-Channel 82’
Bring more Korean news, education, culture and documentary programming to U.S. audiences
Yujin Group steps up its push into global content production and distribution

[Herald Economy=Reporter Hong Seok-hee] Yujin ENT, the media holding arm of Yujin Group, has partnered with major U.S. broadcaster Sinclair Broadcast Group to introduce Korean content to American audiences.

Yujin ENT said on the 21st that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Sinclair to expand K-content in the U.S. media market and to collaborate on distribution and production. The parties signed the pact on April 19 in Las Vegas. Attending the ceremony were Yujin ENT CEO Kang Hee-seok and Del Pax, Sinclair’s chief technology officer.

Sinclair operates 185 local broadcast stations across 86 U.S. markets and has recently deepened partnerships with Korean broadcasters and media companies to expand the reach of K-content in the United States.

Under the agreement, the companies will use the next-generation channel ‘K-Channel 82’ alongside Sinclair’s terrestrial network to deliver a variety of Korean programming — news, educational shows, cultural series, documentaries and informational content — to American viewers. They also plan joint productions targeted at U.S. audiences.

On the same day, YTN signed a separate MOU with Sinclair to support further expansion of K-content in the U.S. market.

Sinclair is also building a next-generation broadcast environment for the ATSC 3.0-based K-Channel 82, integrating interactive services with targeted advertising, e-commerce and voting functions.

A Yujin ENT spokesperson said the deal is significant because it pairs Yujin ENT’s content planning and production capabilities with Sinclair’s U.S. broadcast network. The spokesperson added that they expect the partnership to serve as a launching point for a media platform connecting K-culture and Korean industry with global audiences.
