[Herald Economy = Reporter Moon Young-gyu] Italian chefs in London pulled off a delicious feat, setting a world record with a tiramisu that measured 441 m (about 1,446.9 ft) — roughly 441 meters long.
According to the BBC and other international outlets on the 27th (local time), Mirko Ricci and 100 Italian chefs assembled the giant tiramisu at Chelsea Town Hall in London on April 25–26, creating a new Guinness World Record.
They used 2.2 metric tons (about 4,850 lb) of mascarpone cheese, 50,000 ladyfinger biscuits and more than 3,000 eggs to make the mammoth dessert.
Following Guinness rules, the entire process was carried out on site.
The previous record was set by Italian dairy brand Galbani in Milan in 2019 at 273.5 m (about 896.7 ft). To qualify as a new record, the dessert needed to exceed a minimum height of 8 cm (about 3.15 in) and a width of 15 cm (about 5.91 in).
Ricci had first set this record in 2017 but lost it two years later; this event marked his return to the top.
Ricci said the tiramisu was created to honor the king and the royal family — complete with a gold crown design and the message, “Thank you, Your Majesty the King.”
He explained that the team chose to stage the challenge in the U.K., rather than Italy, as a gesture of gratitude to Britain.
Calling tiramisu “the most amazing dessert Italy has exported,” Ricci thanked everyone involved, celebrating the effort as a record-breaking triumph for the team.
