Amid a cease-fire between Iran, the United States and Israel, Iran’s military told Tasnim News Agency on April 28 that it has maintained full combat readiness by updating target databases and upgrading equipment.

On a television program, Iranian Army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said he does not consider the war over. He said that from the first day of the cease-fire, and out of distrust of Washington, the military has upgraded weapons systems while continuing surveillance, reconnaissance and training.

Akraminia said the military has produced or modified weapons and equipment, stressing that despite the cease-fire the force remains effectively on a wartime footing.

He warned that if U.S. forces were to invade again or otherwise threaten Iran’s national security, Tehran would respond more forcefully than before.

Akraminia also said Iran still holds numerous \”victory cards\” it has not yet used. He added that, based on past combat experience, Tehran has acquired new weapons and tactics that would enable stronger, more decisive responses to any future attack.

Separately, on April 8, with Pakistan mediating, the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week cease-fire and began talks in Islamabad. In those negotiations, Iran presented a 10-point proposal that included withdrawal of U.S. forces and the lifting of sanctions.

Iran has made clear that lifting the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is a precondition for resuming cease-fire talks, and it argues that continuing the blockade would constitute a violation of the cease-fire.
