Elementary students in Namyangju turned their drawings into a calendar and donated the proceeds to help neighbors in need.

Namyangju City announced on May 7 that Wandu-kong Art Studio delivered ₩1,000,000 (about $750) in calendar sales proceeds to the Nambu Hope Care Center on May 4.

The funds were raised by selling calendars featuring artwork by 55 elementary students enrolled at the studio — a project that translated the children’s creativity into direct community support.

At the handover ceremony, students who contributed artwork received certificates of appreciation. The event gave them a chance to see how their efforts produced a tangible donation and to learn the value of giving.

The donation will be distributed to ten vulnerable children under the age of 13 living in Namyangju’s southern district. Each child will receive a calendar and a cash grant of ₩100,000 (about $75).

Jo Soo-yeon, director of Wandu-kong Art Studio, said, “I hope this activity helped the children learn the value of sharing. We plan to continue community-focused projects.”

A city official described the effort as “a meaningful example of children’s talents being channeled into community donations” and added, “We hope this will help spread a culture of giving.”

The Nambu Hope Care Center runs a range of welfare programs and public–private partnership initiatives aimed at closing gaps in local social services.
