[iNews24 reporter Han Bongsu] The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) held a “Campaign to Make Flowers Part of Daily Life” on the 7th at Hanaarum Elementary School in Naju, South Jeolla Province, aiming to encourage the everyday use of flowers.
As part of Family Month, the campaign gave flowers to about 600 elementary students, hoping to pass along the positive energy those blooms symbolize.

The carnations distributed were summer blooms symbolizing love, respect and gratitude. Students were given them to take home so the sentiment could be passed on to their families.
Organizers also handed out mugunghwa, the hibiscus syriacus commonly associated with Korea, to foster pride in native flowers and to raise awareness about the need to formally designate the mugunghwa as the national flower under law.
“Receiving a flower made me happy, and I’m glad I can show my gratitude with a flower on Parents’ Day,” one student said.
In 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs named aT the official agency for promoting floral culture. The corporation runs programs designed to shift flower consumption from ceremonial occasions to everyday life.
Hong Moon-pyo, president of aT, said, “Through this campaign, I hope children—the next generation—will come to experience the joy and meaning flowers bring to daily life.” He added, “We will continue to support the development of the floral industry through events and hands-on educational programs that help make flowers a regular part of everyday life.”
