[Sports Seoul | Reporter Pyo Kwon-hyang] KTis’s “Call a Taxi for You” service has logged 100,000 trips and served more than 45,000 users in its first year, carving out a role as a practical convenience for people on the wrong side of the digital divide.
The service dispatches a taxi for customers who aren’t comfortable using smartphone apps. Callers simply dial 02-114—no app download or pre-registration required—and an agent enters the pickup and drop-off information and then relays the dispatch details. The service operates nationwide, weekdays and weekends, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Launched in April ahead of Parents’ Day 2025, KTis reports roughly 98,000 trips in the first year. The service has shown brisk growth: about 13,000 requests came in during April alone.
KTis is expanding the 114 service beyond a simple directory number into a lifestyle information platform for people who face digital barriers. In addition to taxi dispatches, the company operates a national health screening appointment service. During the Goyang International Flower Festival, KTis rolled out a phone-based ticket reservation system to help visitors who had difficulty using on-site kiosks.
Kim Seong-geun, head of KTis’s 114 business unit, said, “As digital technology advances, some people risk being left out of its benefits. Building on 114’s accessibility and convenience, we will continue to broaden our services to address everyday inconveniences.” gioia@sportsseoul.com
