The CEN News / Reporter Lee Ju-sang | Gwangsan CC, the district-run eco-friendly public golf course in Gwangsan District, is winning rave reviews from players and emerging as a model for successful public golf facilities.
Gwangsan District says an initial user survey conducted after it moved to direct municipal management showed an overall satisfaction rate of 91%.
The survey, carried out from Dec. 29 through Jan. 15, polled 188 Gwangsan CC users through questionnaires and on-site interviews.
Respondents reported more than 90% satisfaction across most key areas, including convenience and fairness, service and friendliness, and course and facility upkeep.
Course and facility maintenance scored the highest, with a 94% satisfaction rate.
The district says it has made major improvements—trimming trees, planting flower beds, renovating the clubhouse, and introducing new electric carts—for the first time in 15 years since switching to direct municipal management, upgrading the overall experience.
It also introduced hybrid manual/automatic electric carts and launched a \”Gwangsan Residents’ Golf Day\” program to speed up play and make booking and use more convenient for locals.
Those changes helped turn around early operational slowdowns caused by bad weather; since last October, both visitor numbers and revenue have been on the rise.
The district has also stepped up heat-season safety measures, offering free parasol rentals, ice-cold bottled water, and electrolyte drinks.
This year, Gwangsan District plans to further boost the course’s competitiveness by expanding resident booking benefits, adding more electric carts, and enlarging outdoor restroom facilities.
A district official said, “High satisfaction shows citizens are noticing the changes at Gwangsan CC. We’ll keep developing it into a citizen-centered course that balances public value and efficiency.”
