[The Public=Reporter Doohee Cho] Commercial banks have recently been staging in-person, family-focused events to showcase their nonbanking services. By offering child-friendly activities, they reach broader audiences and encourage parents to try health and leisure features built into their apps, a strategy aimed at attracting new customers.

To mark Family Month in May, Shinhan Bank held a family running event, the 2026 Seoul Stroller Race with Shinhan 20+ Run, around Seoul Children’s Grand Park on May 10.

The 5-kilometer event was open to families with infants and elementary-school–aged children. Rather than a timed competition, organizers emphasized parents and kids walking and running together to create healthy memories. The running platform Runnerable organized the event in partnership with Shinhan Bank’s running service, Shinhan 20+ Run.

Shinhan 20+ Run is available to customers 18 and older through the Shinhan SOL Bank app. It syncs with popular running apps to track workouts and offers “running cash” rewards, mission-based incentives, and savings benefits with rates up to 7.5% annual interest. A recent update added a running-crew feature so families, friends and clubs can set goals and share results.

On-site programming went beyond the race: parents and children decorated strollers with flowers, posed at photo zones, made planters, and enjoyed magic and bubble shows and face painting—activities designed for family participation.

Participants received a race pack and a finisher’s gift, and event booths offered games and additional prizes.

A Shinhan Bank spokesperson said the bank plans to keep expanding customer experiences that connect exercise, leisure and financial benefits through Shinhan 20+ Run.
