[iNews24 Reporter Kim Sang-jin] Naju City in South Jeolla Province announced on May 14 that it will revamp lodging options for visitors ahead of the 2026 “Year of Visiting Naju.”

The city said it’s launching a call for participants in the “2026 Tourism and Rural Lodging Bedding Support Project,” aiming to raise hygiene standards at local accommodations and boost the quality of tourism services.

The initiative is designed to give travelers cleaner, more comfortable places to stay.

To be eligible, businesses must have completed city business registration by the announcement date and be operating as one of the following: hanok experience operators, foreign-tourist city guesthouses, tourist pensions (under the Tourism Promotion Act), or rural homestays (under the Rural and Fishing-village Maintenance Act).

Selected facilities will receive subsidies to purchase separate bedding sets — duvets, pads, and pillow-and-cover sets.

Support is limited to two sets per room, with a maximum of 2,400,000 KRW (approximately $1,800) per business.

Funding comes as a 60% subsidy from the city, with applicants covering the remaining 40%. Applications are open through the 27th.

The tourism division at city hall will accept applications from hanok experience operators, foreign-tourist city guesthouses, and tourist pensions. Rural homestays should apply through the Agricultural Technology Center’s Agricultural Policy Division.

Applicants will be evaluated on amenities, hygiene, and safety management; recipients will be selected based on their scores.

Jo Jeong-im, director of the Tourism, Culture and Green Spaces Bureau, said, “We’ll do our best to build the infrastructure for longer-stay tourism so visitors to Naju can travel more comfortably and leave more satisfied.”
