[EPN EnpiNow reporter Go Na-ri] Chef Ahn Seong-jae has publicly addressed the recent wine-substitution controversy at Mosu Seoul.

On the 14th, Ahn posted on his personal social media that he’s trying to stay grounded with gratitude amid a chaotic world. He added, “Thank you to everyone who believes in my sincerity,” and expressed appreciation for the support he’s received.

The same day a photo was shared showing a copy of Bar & Dining magazine featuring Ahn on the cover.

The controversy stems from a diner’s allegation that Mosu Seoul served a 2005 vintage during a wine pairing instead of the scheduled 2000 vintage. The customer posted about the incident in an online community and said the sommelier acknowledged the mistake. The diner also claimed the restaurant never issued an official apology.

Mosu Seoul released a statement through its official channels apologizing and saying it sincerely regrets disappointing the customer due to inadequate guidance and insufficient explanation during the wine pairing.

Ahn also apologized on his personal account, writing, “I once again offer my sincere apologies for the inadequate service that occurred at the establishment. I take responsibility for everything that happened.”

On the 13th, he announced he would suspend activity on his personal channels for the time being, saying, “I’ll take time to regroup and return with more responsibility and better content.”
