This May — a month that includes Children’s Day and Family Month in Korea — parents are rethinking kids’ bedroom furniture. Where families once swapped out inexpensive pieces as children grew, shoppers now favor long-lasting options that prioritize function, safety and sustainability.

That shift has boosted demand for modular children’s furniture that adapts to each growth stage. These pieces reconfigure into different setups, cutting replacement cycles and making better use of space.

Hanssem’s modular children’s line, SamKids, has sold 1.61 million sets to date.

SamKids is designed with safety and durability front of mind.

All pieces use E0-grade eco-friendly materials and feature rounded edges. The collection holds Korea’s KC Children’s Integrated Certification and OEKO-TEX Class 1 certification. Antibacterial coating and an easy-clean finish make maintenance simple.

Physical safety features are built in, too. The line includes lock-function rails to prevent drawer detachment and an anti-tip system, and it passed durability checks such as a 30kg load test.

SamKids uses a modular system that parents can reconfigure as their child grows.

In infancy, it works for storing diapers and clothing; later you can add a hanging rod or bookshelf modules to convert it into a wardrobe or bookcase. Hanssem says the setup is useful through a child’s entry to elementary school.

The lineup goes beyond storage to include wardrobes, daybeds and desks so families can keep a cohesive room design. The SamKids High-Guard Daybed raises the guard height compared with earlier models to enhance safety.

For May, Hanssem is running online and in-store promotions centered on SamKids. Alongside time-limited deals on Hanssem’s online mall, the brand will showcase the collection at the Daegu Baby & Kids Fair on May 28.

A Hanssem spokesperson said, “Safety that supports healthy child development matters as much as functionality that eases parenting. We hope families experience this solution: durable, high-quality furniture that reduces the need for frequent replacements.”
