2026 Roborock S10 MaxV Slim: Is This the Ultimate Robot Vacuum for Busy Couples?

Six months into married life, this newlywed couple skipped the robot vacuum when picking out appliances. They just didn’t trust it. Both work full-time, so running a vacuum regularly is a hassle and they’re often away from home—making the vacuum feel unnecessary. If anything, they pictured it getting stuck somewhere and never finishing the job.

Then, on the 23rd of last month, a new model dropped: Roborock’s 2026 S10 MaxV Slim. What’s different this time? I took it for a spin.

Obstacle detection and the ability to climb up to 8.8 cm (3.46 in)… welcome to hands-free cleaning

Roborock launched its 2026 flagship, the S10 MaxV Slim, in the domestic market on the 23rd. This premium model combines an ultra-slim profile with upgraded AI cleaning features. It can slip into spaces as low as 7.95 cm (3.13 in) and, thanks to its AdaptLift chassis 3.0, it will ride over double thresholds up to 8.8 cm (3.46 in), the company says.

The S10 MaxV Slim also uses an AI-driven navigation system—StarSight™ Autonomous Driving System 2.0—to recognize rooms in three dimensions.

The first thing I wanted to test was obstacle handling, so I set a potted plant in its path.

The robot identified the pot as an obstacle, nudged forward and back once, then turned and kept cleaning—adjusting its route to avoid the plant. I watched the route on my phone and corrected any hiccups, which let it deliver a more customized clean.

To check the 8.8 cm (3.46 in) dual-threshold claim, I ran it with a table and a drying rack left in place. When the vacuum detected them, it lifted its front and climbed over. It treated carpets the same way.

The mopping performance was more persistent than I expected. I tested it on detergent stains left after washing dishes. Rather than passing once, it returned to the same spot multiple times—circling back until the stain lifted.

After a rainy day, results around the shoe cabinet were similar: dust and water marks disappeared. When heavy stains are detected, the robot raises its omni-wheels and presses the dual mop harder—applying 8 N for standard mopping and ramping up to 13 N for tough spots to remove water marks and stubborn residue.

Travel over a holiday? Don’t sweat the mess at home.

The biggest benefit I noticed after a week of use was remote control. My wife was in Shanghai on the 30th and started the S10 MaxV Slim from there. She launched cleaning from her phone, tracked the route, and watched live video of the house. Being able to confirm the clean while away was surprisingly reassuring.

The unit even supports video calls. It felt oddly intimate to check in and exchange quick greetings through the robot while miles apart. That feature will be especially handy for pet owners—so you can talk to your pet and see what’s happening. Roborock says the vacuum automatically recognizes pets, stops the main brush, and adjusts its route so it won’t startle them.

Less hands-on work afterward… but security and convenience still raise questions

The post-clean routine impressed me. The unit empties its dust and washes the mop on its own, using hot water to strip away grime. It heats water up to 100°C (212°F) to loosen stubborn stains, food residue, and grease that normal cleaning might miss. After trying it, “hands-free cleaning” didn’t feel like hyperbole.

Still, the camera feature raises security concerns. Roborock says the S10 MaxV Slim earned UL Solutions’ top Diamond rating in IoT security testing, which should help ease consumer worries.

Whether a robot vacuum is a must-have depends on the household. It didn’t replace every cleaning task during my trial, but it noticeably reduced daily upkeep. Dual-income families and people who spend long stretches away from home will likely see the biggest benefit. Just cutting down on the manual cleaning made everyday life feel lighter than I expected.
