Audio brands are carving up the headphone market with models that emphasize professional monitoring, all-day wireless playback, fashion-forward colorways, and limited-edition wood housings.

Sennheiser has launched the closed-back HD 480 PRO monitoring headphones, designed for studio recording, mixing, and live use.

The HD 480 PRO addresses a common shortcoming of closed-back designs by improving low-frequency accuracy while also boosting comfort for long sessions. It incorporates a vibration-damping system to reduce unwanted resonance and distortion, and an ultra-light voice coil to deliver natural, dynamic sound.

The HD 480 PRO uses multiple layers of passive isolation so listeners can focus at home, in a car, or on stage. Sennheiser’s patented Special Axis Geometry provides even clamping pressure regardless of head shape, and comfort-zone ear pads accommodate glasses wearers. The headphones also include a detachable cable that can be used on either side.

The HD 480 PRO will be available in May. Sennheiser is positioning it as a closed-back model that delivers precise bass reproduction and long-wearing comfort.

Marshall has introduced the wireless on-ear Milton ANC in South Korea. The model pairs Marshall’s signature on-ear silhouette with active noise canceling and up to 80 hours of wireless playback. With ANC engaged it still delivers more than 50 hours of playtime, making it suitable for commuting, travel, and long days on the move.

The Milton ANC features a sturdy foldable construction and memory-foam ear cushions for improved portability and comfort. Square TPU-molded ear caps with a textured leather finish, a brass logo, and powder-coated metal arms preserve Marshall’s classic look. Next-generation adaptive ANC uses multiple microphones to analyze ambient sound in real time and automatically adjust cancellation strength, and a transparency mode lets in outside audio.

The headphones support adaptive loudness and Marshall’s spatial audio technology, Sound Stage. They support Bluetooth 6.0 and LE Audio and are compatible with SBC, AAC, LC3, and LDAC codecs. The battery is user-replaceable, and the product uses 42% recycled materials by weight. Demos and sales begin on Marshall’s official website on May 19, with availability at Marshall’s Naver brand store and authorized dealers in Korea from May 27.

Sony Korea has introduced a new Sandstone finish for its flagship WH-1000XM6 wireless noise-canceling headphones. Sandstone is a subtle beige that evokes grains of sand and pairs well with both casual and business attire. The new color joins Platinum Silver, Black, Midnight Blue, and Sand Pink, bringing the WH-1000XM6 palette to five options.

The WH-1000XM6, the sixth-generation model in Sony’s 1000X series, features the latest QN3 HD noise-canceling processor and 12 microphones. Sony collaborated with Grammy-winning and nominated mastering engineers on the sound tuning, and the headphones support LDAC for wireless high-resolution audio. Users can tailor sound profiles for music, movies, and games via the Sony Headphones Connect app.

Sony also improved fit and call performance: a wide, padded headband, plush ear pads, and a lighter overall weight reduce fatigue during long listening sessions, while an AI-based beamforming system helps deliver clearer voice calls. Fast charging provides up to three hours of playback after a three-minute charge. Purchasers through May 31 receive up to 30,000 KRW (about $22.50) in Olive Young gift cards.

Audio-Technica has released a limited-edition portable wood headphone, the ATH-WP900SE, in South Korea in collaboration with Japanese guitar maker Fujigen. The model applies guitar-making techniques to headphones, pairing a wood housing crafted by Fujigen artisans with Audio-Technica’s acoustic engineering. Founded in 1960, Fujigen is known for producing Fender Japan guitars and for its woodwork and lacquer-finishing expertise.

The ATH-WP900SE uses ash—the same wood commonly used for electric guitar bodies—for its housing. A Fujigen craftsman in Japan hand-applied a three-tone sunburst lacquer to create the guitar-like gradient of yellow, red, and black. The thin, delicate lacquer provides deep sheen and highlights the wood grain, giving the headphones the appearance of a musical instrument.

Audio-Technica tuned the sound to emphasize stringed instruments like guitar and bass. A newly designed 53 mm driver renders a guitar’s attack and resonance with clarity, and an optimized acoustic port suppresses unwanted resonance. The headphones weigh about 235 g and the earcups swivel 180 degrees. Included accessories are a limited-edition numbered card, a Fujigen cleaning cloth, a 1.2 m balanced cable, and a 1.2 m 3.5 mm cable; the model will be sold via Audio-Technica’s official website and its Naver brand store.
