Tentative deal reached amid threat of a full strike…A call for unity to employees

Jeon

Jeon Young-hyun, head of Samsung Electronics’ Device Solutions (DS) division and vice chairman, moved quickly to reinforce internal unity after a tentative wage agreement was reached. He urged employees to “leave the period of conflict behind and move forward together as one.”

On the 21st, Jeon issued a statement to DS division staff saying, “The union and the company have reached a tentative agreement on the 2026 wage negotiations.” He added, “This outcome was possible because of the dedication of employees who remained steadfast in their duties and gave their best throughout the prolonged bargaining process.”

Jeon acknowledged that disagreements arose during the talks but said they confirmed a shared commitment to the company. “I recognize that many of you experienced worry and disappointment during the negotiations, and I take those concerns seriously,” he said.

He also expressed gratitude to the union. “I sincerely thank the union and its members for achieving a tentative agreement through dialogue and compromise despite difficult conditions,” Jeon said.

Jeon said the company will use the agreement as an opportunity to act with greater responsibility and to strengthen global competitiveness and sustainable growth. “What matters now is putting the period of conflict behind us and moving forward together,” he emphasized.

“If we work together on a foundation of mutual respect and trust, I believe we can achieve an even greater leap,” he added. “The company will continue to listen to your efforts and dedication and will keep working to improve the work environment.”
