Ice That Slides Right Into Your Water Bottle — A Genius Freezing Hack

Hey, summer’s here and we all know a cold drink is non-negotiable. If your bottle’s narrow mouth keeps regular ice cubes out, this little hack is a total game-changer. Keep reading to learn how to make long, slim ice sticks that slip straight into slim bottles—perfect for staying cool on the go.

What You Need

All you need is a zip-top bag, a rubber band, and a wooden chopstick. That’s it—three simple items to make bottle-friendly ice in minutes.

Fill the bag about one-third to one-quarter with water. Tip: squeeze out as much air as you can—leave the zipper slightly open while you press the air out, then seal it completely.

Lay the bag flat and place the chopstick along it to match the height of your bottle. Secure the chopstick on top with the rubber band so the water freezes around it into a long stick.

This setup freezes the ice in exactly the shape and length you need—so simple and smart.

Freezing

Place the bag on a flat shelf in your freezer and wait a few hours until it’s solid. Once frozen, remove the chopstick—the ice will have formed a long stick around it.

Pull out the chopstick and you’ve got a long ice rod the same length as the chopstick. Break it into pieces or slide the whole stick into your bottle.

These long sticks slide into narrow bottles perfectly and keep drinks icy cold longer than small cubes. If one doesn’t cut it, pop in a few. It’s an easy, stylish way to stay refreshed during a heatwave.

With hot days ahead, try this trick to stay cool, hydrated, and a little bit extra—because summer should look as good as it feels.
