Fashion platforms like Musinsa are rolling out major promotions to capture the shopping frenzy ahead of the Lunar New Year. They’re vying for the attention of young professionals flush with holiday bonuses and the Gen Z crowd with their newfound spending power.
The fashion industry reports a surge in transactions around the Lunar New Year holiday. Ably saw a 35% jump in total sales during the holiday week last year (January 26 to February 1, 2025) compared to the previous week. Zigzag’s fast delivery sales spiked 10% in the week leading up to last year’s holiday compared to 2024.
This holiday sales boom is no surprise, given it’s a peak retail season. An industry insider dishes, “It’s a perfect storm of bonuses and holiday cash. Plus, with the market on an upswing, people are feeling extra spendy this year.”
To cash in on this shopping fever, fashion platforms are pulling out all the stops with massive discounts and coupon giveaways.
Musinsa is going all out with an online and offline shopping extravaganza until the 25th. Lucky shoppers can snag up to 50,000 KRW (37.50 USD) in Musinsa Money daily, while in-store visitors might score random coupons worth up to 50,000 KRW (37.50 USD). Their signature items are slashed by up to 77% both online and in-store. They’re also upping their delivery game with free, same-day shipping called ‘Mubaedang’ to keep the holiday shoppers happy.
Ably is not holding back either, with discounts up to a whopping 96% from the 12th to the 23rd, plus a coupon pack worth about 200,000 KRW (150 USD). They’re spicing things up with live broadcasts and fresh content on their LookCook platform. Meanwhile, KakaoStyle’s Zigzag is betting big on their speedy ‘Jikjin Delivery’ service.
These platforms are also tapping into the gift-giving spirit. W Concept’s curated ‘Gift Giving’ event is a hit, with gift sales doubling in just two weeks. LF Mall is in on the action too, showcasing perfect picks for family visits and holiday getaways until the 13th.
