Niche beauty brand Byredo has unveiled a captivating new campaign for their iconic fragrance, Bal d’Afrique, breathing fresh life into its creative direction.

Inspired by the vibrant culture and art of Africa, Bal d’Afrique is a sensory journey that marries light floral notes with warm, woody undertones and a zesty citrus twist. The campaign brilliantly translates the fragrance’s essence into movement, using dance as a powerful medium to convey its mood and emotion.
Set against the backdrop of Accra, Ghana, the campaign features a diverse cast of West African dancers and models. Under the expert guidance of Burkina Faso-born choreographer Raji Koné, the performers create a mesmerizing fusion of traditional West African dance and contemporary street styles, resulting in a fluid, captivating narrative.
The visuals, captured by the talented photographer Philippe-Daniel Ducasse, offer a restrained yet evocative glimpse into the interplay of movement and space. The wardrobe, curated from African fashion labels and local Accra tailors, not only showcases each performer’s unique personality but also allows for unrestricted movement, creating a seamless blend of fashion and dance.

In addition to the original scent, Byredo introduces Bal d’Afrique Absolu de Parfum, an intensified version that maintains the signature fragrance’s character while amplifying its depth and contrasts. This luxurious interpretation offers a more concentrated olfactory experience for fragrance enthusiasts.
The Absolu bottle features a striking textured cap inspired by wood-burning techniques, reflecting the fragrance’s rich complexity. For those who can’t get enough of Bal d’Afrique, Byredo is expanding its body care line with a new 450 ml (15.2 fl oz) size for the body wash and lotion, available exclusively in-store. This larger size complements the existing 225 ml (7.6 fl oz) option, perfect for at-home pampering.
