PLAC brought its ‘051 Premium Denim Line’ front and center to Hannam-dong, Seoul. The brand launched a new line based on Okayama denim and used the pop-up to highlight fabric texture, production processes, and the stories behind each piece. The presentation made PLAC’s premium denim direction unmistakably clear.
On the 12th, PLAC opened a pop-up store in Hannam-dong that showcased the premium offshoot of its signature ‘051’ line. The event was a hands-on opportunity for customers to experience the elevated offering in person.
At the venue, PLAC displayed the established 051 Candiani line alongside its new Shiota and Kuroki lines. Rather than a simple product showcase, the exhibit emphasized fabrics, manufacturing backgrounds, and the unique characteristics of each line.
PLAC’s ‘051 Premium Denim Line’ is anchored in Okayama denim. Built around a “core work uniform” concept, the collection reinterprets the functional details of workwear for everyday life—thoughtful, durable, and meant to be worn all the time.

First Korean brand to partner with Japan’s Shiota factory — from development through production
Notably, PLAC is the first domestic brand to collaborate with the Shiota factory in Okayama, working through the entire process from fabric development to production. The premium collection is split between the Shiota line, built on traditional selvedge denim, and the Kuroki line, which uses signature mill fabrics from Okayama.
The pop-up’s layout reflected that emphasis. Visitors could touch and compare materials from the Candiani, Shiota, and Kuroki lines, and pick up campaign leaflets that document the production steps used in those Japanese denim mills. The brand made it clear that the premium focus extends beyond finished products to the very materials and manufacturing behind them.
The event also included on-site programs. PLAC offered an initial-stamping service for customers who purchased 051 denim and ran a social-media giveaway: customers who posted photos wearing the jeans were entered into a drawing to win products.
PLAC launched in 2009 as a denim-first label. Leveraging accumulated fit data and fabric-development know-how, the brand has built a denim-centered total-wear collection. The 051 line—its signature—has sold 170,000 units to date.
Offline retail has expanded steadily. PLAC now operates 33 physical stores nationwide, including 21 department-store locations and 12 outlets.
