Dong District in Daejeon is launching training on kiosks and artificial intelligence (AI) for seniors who use local senior centers.
Based on a public–university collaboration proposal, the district is rolling out kiosk and AI instruction for older residents. The program will operate at 40 senior centers through the end of the year, with 20 sites scheduled in the first half and 20 in the second.
The RISE team at Woosong Information College will run the sessions. Faculty and students will visit the centers to lead about two-hour, hands-on workshops designed for older adults.
The curriculum focuses on practical, everyday uses. Participants will practice basic kiosk functions used at restaurants, hospitals and train stations for ticketing, and they will also learn to use modern AI applications such as ChatGPT and Gemini. The program emphasizes hands-on practice rather than classroom-style explanations of digital technology.
Park Hee-jo said, “We hope this training will help seniors adapt to the digital environment and make daily life more convenient. Through a range of education programs run with universities and the local community, we will work to close the digital divide between generations.”
