By Kim Jeong-su, iNews24 — Gyeonggi Dormitory said May 7 that it held a hobby-class program, “Making Carnation Pots,” on the afternoon of May 6 on the dormitory lawn.

The workshop invited 30 residents to create carnation planters to give to their parents ahead of Parents’ Day.

Participants used carnation seedlings, pots and wrapping materials to assemble the planters they intended to give as gifts.

The dormitory provided the necessary supplies and kept extra live flowers on hand to account for spoilage, ensuring the activity ran smoothly for everyone involved.

“I haven’t often told my parents how grateful I am, so being able to give them a planter I made myself felt meaningful,” one resident said. “It was a short session, but making something with care was healing.”

“Living in the dorm keeps me away from my family, and with Parents’ Day approaching I was thinking about them,” another resident said. “This program gave me time to reflect. I’m grateful the dorm organized such a warm activity.”

Director Jo Do-yeon said, “This carnation-pot workshop gave residents a chance to reflect on their gratitude for family and to express those feelings. We will continue to offer cultural programs that support residents’ emotional well-being and a healthy dorm life.”

Gyeonggi Dormitory regularly offers a variety of hobby classes and cultural programs to support residents’ leisure activities and help build a sense of community.
