Busan is bringing professional soccer programming to Deullak-Nallak, the city’s children’s cultural complex that drew 2.4 million visitors last year. The move underscores the city’s effort to expand the site as a neighborhood hub for families.

On the afternoon of the 14th, city officials said they will sign a memorandum of understanding with Busan I’Park at Deullak-Nallak on the first floor of Busan City Hall to promote family-friendly leisure and culture.

The agreement will include co-hosted child- and family-focused sports programs, the launch of a soccer playground, and joint promotional efforts. Players from Busan I’Park are expected to take part directly in on-site activities.

Attendees at the signing will include Deputy Mayor for Future Innovation Seong Hee-yeop, Busan I’Park CEO Kang Min-gu, and players Baek Ga-on and Gu Sang-min.

Immediately after the signing, the city plans to open the “Deullak-Nallak Soccer Playground” on the lawn at Sky Park on City Hall’s fourth floor. About 20 pre-registered children and their parents will join the players for a one-day soccer clinic.

The city hopes the player-led soccer playground will attract family participation.

Busan also plans to continue expanding cultural and athletic programs that use Deullak-Nallak. Launched in 2021, the initiative now operates at 99 of the city’s 110 locations.

After winning the top urban-innovation prize at the UNESCAP-run SDG City Awards, the program drew more than 2.4 million visitors last year.

Busan’s push to position Deullak-Nallak not as a basic daycare but as a neighborhood experiential space has become increasingly clear in recent program planning.

“We will diversify programs so children and parents can enjoy the space together,” Deputy Mayor Seong Hee-yeop said.
