[MyDaily = Reporter Park Rosa] Lee Ho-seon offered warm counsel to Chaerina.
On Saturday the 16th, SBS Plus aired the 20th episode of Lee Ho-seon’s Cider, which centered on failures that shattered everyday life. The episode featured a range of stories: an office worker whose attempts to be funny repeatedly fell flat; a woman trying to rebuild her life after an affair; a patient whose failed IVF treatments were compounded by well-meaning but hurtful reactions from others; a young woman who stopped leaving her room after repeated job rejections; and a pregnant woman who endured discrimination from her in-laws for having only daughters.
The show drew attention when first-generation pop star Chaerina appeared as the episode’s first celebrity guest. Married later in life, Chaerina said she underwent IVF treatments for seven years. \”Waiting for the results was terrifying,\” she said. \”The cycle of swelling hope and sudden collapse was exhausting.\” She added, \”My body was wrecked and my mental health fell apart. I even said, ‘I want to die,’ almost like a complaint. When my husband heard that, he cried.\” Her remarks conveyed the depth of the pain she had carried.

Chaerina said she eventually stopped pursuing IVF and returned to daily life, but found that other people’s overprotective gestures caused new wounds. She appreciated friends who cautiously mentioned first birthdays or pregnancies to avoid upsetting her, yet she also felt those gestures kept defining her as someone still wounded.
Lee Ho-seon noted that Chaerina had been responsible for supporting her family from a young age, and that themes of duty and protection run through her life. \”Compassion shouldn’t turn into exclusion,\” he said. \”It’s time to say, ‘I’m okay.’ Ms. Chaerina has already given birth to songs, dance and love. Now give birth to yourself.\”

Moved, Chaerina turned to those around her and declared, \”I’m okay now! Invite me to first birthdays. Call me when someone has a baby. And when someone’s doing IVF, tell them, ‘Sister, buy me something delicious!’\” She thanked Lee Ho-seon directly: \”I should be the one to pay when I go. It was such a meaningful time. It healed me.\”
Meanwhile, SBS Plus’ Lee Ho-seon’s Cider airs Saturdays at 10 a.m.
