[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] A stage actor is accused of hiding his married status while developing a romantic relationship with a woman and accepting financial support from her.

The woman, identified only as A and in her 30s, told JTBC’s \”Sageon Banjang\” on the 17th that actor B concealed his marriage, promised to marry her and received financial assistance.

A says she met B about a year ago after seeing him in a play. B had left home because his parents opposed his acting and was reportedly living in a rehearsal studio, handling his own meals and lodging. Although B’s parents operate a well-known restaurant and are considered wealthy, B told her, \”I will succeed as an actor.\” A grew fond of him, introduced him to her parents and secured their permission to move in together.

B, however, did not introduce A to his own parents for more than a year. She later discovered that B was married. When confronted, B said he was already divorced, but it emerged that he was only separated from his wife.

During their relationship, B reportedly asked A for money, citing overdue credit card bills and shortfalls on rent. A’s parents, who had accepted him as a prospective son-in-law, say they provided several tens of millions of KRW (approximately $15,000–$30,000) and now feel betrayed.

Attorney Park Ji-hoon said the circumstances suggest B may have obtained financial benefits by deception, which could support fraud charges. He added that the family could also seek compensation through a civil claim for damages based on tort.

Attorney Shin Yoo-jin said the victims could pursue recovery of both emotional and financial losses. If they can document how the money was transferred, she said, they could file a lawsuit to reclaim the funds as loan repayments.
