[Sports Today reporter Lim Si-ryeong] Yaongyi, the creator of the hit webtoon True Beauty, announced the birth of her second child.
On the 27th, Yaongyi wrote on her social media that she was finally able to cautiously share why she had paused serialization and kept a low profile: a baby angel has come to our family.
She added that amid unfamiliar and overwhelming days, the four of them are learning, moment by moment, what it means to be a family. She thanked fans for waiting quietly and for their continued support, and promised to return with a strong new work.
Alongside the note, she released family photos, from a late-term photoshoot with her husband to images of their newborn second son.
Yaongyi first drew public attention in 2019 when she revealed a relationship with webtoon artist Jeon Seon-uk of Freedraw, and in 2021 she disclosed that she was a single mother to a son. The two married in 2022, and she is now the mother of two boys.
True Beauty helped Yaongyi gain widespread popularity; the property has been adapted into a TV drama, a film and an animated series. In 2023 she faced allegations of tax evasion, but she contested the National Tax Service’s VAT assessment at the tax tribunal and won the case last year.
