[Sports Today reporter Kim Tae-hyung] Seo Hee-jae, the sister-in-law of singer Koo Jun-yup and the younger sister of the late Seo Hee-won, broke down in tears during her on-air comeback.
On the 6th (local time), Taiwanese outlet ETtoday reported that Seo returned to television on the variety show ‘Sojeobulheejae.’ It marked her first broadcast appearance one year and two months after she lost her sister, Seo Hee-won, in February of last year.
Seo welled up and sobbed in response to the audience’s support and cheers. Overcome with emotion, she even uttered a profanity on air, saying, “Do you know why people came up with swearing? It’s because we have so many emotions — sadness, joy, happiness.”
She went on to acknowledge that some viewers might feel uncomfortable seeing her on screen, but stressed that whatever she shows in the moment is the most honest and sincere expression. “I’m not trying to look pitiful or overact — this is my truest self,” she said.
Meanwhile, Seo’s sister, the late Seo Hee-won, dated Koo Jun-yup in 1998. The pair reconnected more than two decades later and married in 2022. She tragically passed away from acute pneumonia during a trip to Japan in February last year, drawing widespread sorrow.
