[EPN EnPinow reporter Go Nari] UV duo Yoo Se-yoon and Muzi candidly described why a planned large-scale concert was converted into a free show.
On the 27th, they appeared on the channel ‘Jjanhan Hyung Shin Dong-yup’ and outlined the full planning process behind a concert staged about a decade ago. The production company had initially proposed a major venue to position UV as a concert-focused act.
Muzi said they had reserved a venue with roughly 30,000 seats, but ticket sales fell far short of expectations. He recalled the producer apologizing and hesitating over whether to cancel the show.
Ultimately, UV opted to shoulder the financial hit from slow ticket sales and convert the concert into a free event rather than cancel it.
The shows were held outdoors at Children’s Grand Park over two days and drew about 15,000 fans who responded enthusiastically. Yoo Se-yoon said the free performances allowed for a deeper connection with the audience and lifted the overall mood.
Yoo also referenced a recent performance at a coin-operated karaoke venue and explained that the pair are returning to smaller stages to avoid the strain of large-scale productions. He said he prefers intimate settings because they foster closer interaction with fans.
They plan to gradually expand to venues such as karaoke rooms and live cafes, but Yoo said they will scale back to smaller spaces again if selling out proves difficult.
Yoo Se-yoon quipped, “I wanted to be able to use the phrase ‘sold out,’ so I even prepared promotional materials in advance,” demonstrating his playful side.
