Discover the Artistry of Go Hyun-jung: A Deep Dive into the ‘Face to Face’ Exhibition

사진=고현정 사진=고현정 [Herald Muse — Park Kyung-bin] Nothing—not even flowers—could dim actress Ko Hyun-jung’s luminous presence.

On April 29, Ko shared images from Face to face, a collaborative exhibition by photographer Kim Young-jun and art director Yuni Yoshida, on her social media, revealing a striking new look.

In the photos, she becomes, in effect, an object of art.

She frames her face with rings of fresh blooms threaded around each joint, producing a taut, uncanny tension. In another image, she hides her left eye behind a blossom, creating the optical illusion that the flower is sprouting from her eye — a playful visual twist.

Long regarded as the embodiment of timeless beauty, Ko has captured fans’ attention with an eerie, unconventional aesthetic that goes beyond classic elegance.

The series is all the more impressive because it was staged 100% by hand: no CGI or digital compositing was used.

Face to face is a major collaborative exhibition featuring 62 leading actors from Korea and Japan, including Lee Byung-hun, Song Hye-kyo, Sakaguchi Kentaro and Komatsu Nana, with Ko among the participants.

The immersive project, which pairs the narratives and emotions of actors with the universal symbolism of flowers, opens at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul on May 7 and runs for one month.
