[MyDaily = Reporter Seo Gi-chan] Alan Osmond, the eldest brother and the guiding force behind the global pop group the Osmonds, died at 76 after a decades-long illness.

According to The Sun on the 21st, Alan Osmond—the leader of the legendary vocal group that sparked an Osmond craze around the world in the 1970s—passed away on the night of the 20th at his Utah home, surrounded by his loved ones.

A family spokesperson said Alan died peacefully with his wife, Susan, and his eight sons at his side. They said he remained brave and positive until the end.

Forty-year battle with multiple sclerosis

Alan stepped away from performing after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 1987, but he refused to be defined by the disease and became a powerful example of resilience.

He often said, \”I may have MS, but MS will not have me,\” and over time he became a beacon of hope for patients around the world.

He spent a week in intensive care before returning to his family’s side last Thursday to receive hospice care and say his final goodbyes.

Our hero is gone… Brother Donny Osmond pays tribute

Donny Osmond, upon learning of his brother’s death, posted an emotional tribute on social media.

Donny wrote, \”Alan was more than a brother—he was my protector and my guide. He quietly shouldered every responsibility so the rest of us could shine. He was a true leader.\”

Fellow member Merrill Osmond recalled that two days earlier they had sat together and shared one last joke, and Alan managed a faint smile. \”Now he’s cheering for us from a place without pain,\” Merrill added.

A huge legacy in pop history

As the group’s leader, Alan Osmond wrote and performed on hits such as \”One Bad Apple\” and \”Crazy Horses,\” helping to turn the Osmond family into international pop icons.

He was also the head of a large, close-knit family: married to Susan for more than 50 years, he is survived by eight sons, 30 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Fans around the world have honored his music and courageous life with hashtags like #RestInPeaceAlan.
