BTS Members Call Out ‘Unreasonable’ $3,000 Hotel Price Hikes

Translation result그룹 [Herald Economy=Reporter Kim Seong-hoon] BTS spoke out about a spike in lodging prices ahead of their upcoming Busan concerts.

The group raised the issue during a Weverse live stream with fans on May 26.

BTS is scheduled to perform June 12–13 at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium as part of their world tour “ARIRANG.” The announcement has been followed by a sharp rise in local accommodation costs: rooms that typically run under 100,000 KRW (about $75) reportedly soared to several million KRW — roughly $1,500 to $3,000 in some cases.

Leader RM said, “There’s been too much news about lodging ahead of the Busan shows. I wish that wouldn’t happen.” He added, “I know there’s peak-season pricing, but please be reasonable.”

He also said he’d heard some fans were resorting to overnighting in places without proper rooms or using jimjilbangs (Korean bathhouses). “That’s not right,” he said, urging people to think about the long-term effects.

Jimin echoed the concern: “I want fans to have a good experience in Busan, but this makes me feel bad. Why raise prices by so many times?” Jungkook chimed in using Busan dialect, saying, “Go ma hae-ra” — essentially, “Cut it out.”

In response to mounting complaints about price gouging, Busan city has launched crackdowns on excessive charges. The Korea Buddhist Cultural Foundation has also opened temple-stay spaces in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province as free lodging, but many fans remain unhappy.

Meanwhile, at the 2026 American Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, BTS took home three awards: Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer, and Best Male K-Pop Artist.
