Winter Outerwear Sales Skyrocket: Fur Coats and Military Jackets Take the Lead
Long Puffer Coats See Slight Dip in Popularity

Fashion-forward platform Zigzag, operated by Kakao Style, reported a staggering tenfold increase in sales of diverse winter outerwear, including fur coats and military-inspired jackets, on January 29th.
Zigzag’s big data analysis of product sales from December 1, 2025, to January 25, 2026, revealed that the reign of puffer jackets, which dominated winter streets for years, is finally waning.
In a surprising twist, fur-based outerwear has seen a massive surge in demand. Fur coat sales alone have skyrocketed by over 568%, with transaction values soaring by a whopping 850%.
The fur trend has evolved, offering a wide range of options from long, luxurious coats to plush, rounded textures. This winter’s breakout star? Shearling coats, with sales exploding by an incredible 976% compared to last year.
The cozy trend doesn’t stop there – sales of teddy coats jumped by 103%, while fur jackets saw a 69% increase.
Zigzag’s top-selling rankings paint a clear picture of fur’s newfound popularity.
The “Bear Oversized Boucle Half Coat” from online retailer Onyui has been a runaway hit, with over 24,000 units sold. Meanwhile, Benito’s in-house creation, the “Anybe Airy Feminine High-Neck Fur Jacket,” is winning hearts with its chic design and versatile length options.
Bringing back Y2K vibes, military-style jackets have made a strong comeback, with sales up by 46%. The latest twist? “Fishtail” designs featuring an extended back hem are flying off the shelves, showing a 73% increase.
Shearling jackets are also having a moment, with sales up 20%. The reversible designs are a hit, offering fashion-savvy shoppers two looks in one.
As winter wear options diversify, traditional long puffers and short “puffer” jackets are taking a backseat. This shift reflects a growing trend of individualism in fashion, with shoppers moving away from cookie-cutter styles to express their unique personalities.
The rise of chic, warm accessories has also played a role in this outerwear revolution. Fashionistas are layering up with fleece-lined tights, statement scarves, and trendy leg warmers – proving you don’t need a bulky coat to stay toasty and stylish.
A Kakao Style spokesperson commented, “This winter is all about breaking free from the long, dark puffer coat uniform. We’re seeing a fantastic range of materials, lengths, and designs. We encourage everyone to ditch the basic black puffer and explore Zigzag’s selection to find a coat that truly speaks to their personal style.”
