Nam-gu District in Daegu, led by Mayor Cho Jae-gu, announced on the 16th that it will host a cherry-blossom–themed fashion show at Apsan Laundry Park — one of the area’s signature attractions — on the 28th.
Taking advantage of peak bloom, the district says the event will stage runway shows featuring professional models and local participants across three locations: a special stage at Apsan Laundry Park, the Apsan Sunset Observatory, and the Sky Bridge. The event will also include a wide variety of pop-up flea markets.
Officials say the goal is to bring a rare fashion experience to residents, spotlight local attractions, and give a boost to the area’s struggling businesses.
Around 100 participants from four groups — Daegu Catholic University, Daegu Technical College, the senior-model program at Anapichi Academy Co., Ltd., and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Model Association — will hit the runway in both traditional hanbok and high-fashion looks.
A flea market with 24 local small businesses will showcase everything from cozy socks and pajamas to hair accessories, handmade candles and diffusers, leather goods, women’s apparel, balloons, and pet clothes and toys.
On event day, the Sky Bridge fashion show and other activities will be streamed live on the Apsan Village Broadcasting Station YouTube channel.
Cho, the district chief, said, “By teaming up with local businesses to bring cultural events like this—things residents don’t often get to experience—we aim to create a real synergy that provides practical support for revitalizing the local economy.”
