Kyeongin Women’s University’s Department of Fashion Design announced on the 10th that it recently hosted an industry-academia seminar at the cultural hall of Lotte Department Store in Incheon, focused on fashion brand and marketing analysis.
Students from the fashion design program joined department store merchandisers (MDs) and buyers to swap insights on the latest fashion marketing trends and to explore hands-on education models.
The students examined how domestic women’s brands are using social media and live commerce, then pitched ideas for experiential pop-up stores. They also presented a marketing plan that segments target consumers in the domestic men’s wear market and received practical feedback from industry experts.
The Incheon store’s merchandising team used the presentations as a springboard to discuss store operations and potential collaborations, and they followed up with mentoring sessions for the students.
Since signing a \”family company\” agreement with Kyeongin Women’s University’s fashion design department in 2023, the Incheon branch has supported local talent through donated lectures, career-experience programs, and capstone design advising.
\”This was a valuable opportunity for students to put classroom theory into practice and refine it with feedback from industry professionals,\” said Kim Hee-ryeong, head of the fashion design department. \”We will keep expanding this industry-academia model to develop both practical skills and professional expertise.\”
A Lotte Department Store Incheon representative said supporting the growth of local talent and businesses is part of the company’s social responsibility and that they plan to continue the collaboration.
